Girls in Leadership – University of Minnesota Athletics

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota Athletics, in an ongoing effort to spotlight the next generation of female leaders, presents an original video series titled “Girls In Leadership”. In collaboration with Dove and Cub, the series is produced with Gopher Sports Properties, the university’s athletics multimedia rights holder and local team LEARFIELD.

Episode 1 features two young athletes / entrepreneurs who have partnered with The Sports Bra Project to raise donations of sports bras from their community and from notable brands. The first episode and the remaining episodes will be available to watch on this dedicated page on The entire series will also be shared via official athletics social networks.

Each of the five girls appearing in the series, who are in grades 5 to 8, will be the VIP guest of the Gophers and Coach Whalen on Sunday, January 30, 2022, when Minnesota hosts Wisconsin. They will be presented to fans attending the 2 p.m. women’s basketball game, just days before National Girls and Women in Sport Day on February 2. Notably, these girls will also receive $ 1,000 each to donate to a charity of their choice in Dove and Cub – featuring sponsors of the “Girls In Leadership” video series and corporate partners of Gopher Athletics.
